As much as I love the incredible resources and connectivity provided by the Internet and social media, I also appreciate those rare times that I am able to take a few days away from being plugged in to enjoy other aspects of life. This past weekend was one such time, when friends from out of town, family (my wife’s parents and her aunt and uncle), and local friends celebrating personal milestones all “conspired” to keep me from even booting up my laptop for several days on end. 😉

In all honesty, taking the weekend to really connect with friends and family, some whom I have not seen for a year or so, has done far more to recharge my batteries than I anticipated. It was a weekend overflowing with opportunities to see and spend time with some of the most incredible and amazing people it has been my honor to know, and the only real problem was that I could not possibly spend as much time with all of them as I really wanted to. Visiting with friends on Friday evening, a movie with a friend, visiting wine country all day Saturday with family and returning with just enough time to stop by a good friend’s birthday party for a couple of hours, running a 5K in the morning with my wife and father-in-law followed by dinner and conversation late in the day — a busy weekend! But there are no complaints here today, just a big “thank you” to so many wonderful friends and excellent people for a wonderful weekend “off the grid” and “plugged in” to meaningful friendships and relationships. Life is good, folks!
